Project Name: Big Eau Pleine Aerator
Project Description: The aerator was put in 30 years ago as a temporary fix. Improvement occurred for awhile due to a watershed project, but the farm waste now is very volatile due to factory farming and the aerator can’t keep up.
This relates to Big Eau Pleine Park because it the largest single property on the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir. The park is impacted by the quantity and quality of the water. Park users have a more difficult time launching boats and swimming is not as good. After the fish kill, campground use is off 15% for the total summer and boat launch use is off by 60%. Having an aerator does make a difference in people’s enjoyment of the park.
